Joanna Sheen Enchanted Dreams Christmas card

Hello blogging peeps, sorry for the wait between posts but I have had a bad cold and nearly lost my voice because of it (can't tell you how many peeps were quite glad of it!) but has been a difficult week mostly because my job involves a lot of talking. Anyway voice is on the way back and am feeling heaps better. Todays card is an entry for the crafty bloggers network challenge http://craftybloggersnetwork.blogspot.com/which is a simple card and they have a group on facebook if you would like to join other crafty bloggers and look at lots of other very lovely creations.

Today's card is an 8 x 8 with a silver mat then a hunkydory xmas patterned paper layered on top. I used a snowflake memory box die to cut 4 corners in silver. (I originally tried colouring one a pale blue but it didn't really make too much difference so I left them silver in the end) the corners were glued with a quickie glue pen as they are quite filigree. I printed a topper from the Joanna Sheen Enchanted Dreams cd (available here http://www.joannasheen.com/craft-supplies/joanna-sheen-cdrom-dvds/cdrom-enchanted-dreams/ if you are interested) and matted onto silver and some lovely purple coredinations glitter card and arranged in the centre. To finish a nice hunkydory sentiment. Oh and I also used a sakura glitter pen on the snowflakes on the topper for a little sparkle.

This card was so simple to make, took less than 1/2 hour to put together and yet is probably one of the most striking cards I have made in a while. The silver snowflake corners add a complementary icy feel to the card and in real life looks really good, I don't know if that comes across well in the photo.

Anyway that's all for today....happy halloween peeps.

Until next time

Take care

Nitwit Halloween card with cute little beaded spider

Hello again blogging peeps, here is the halloween card I have been working on since my last post. Apologies for the photo not being quite so good today... I think this is a combination of dodgy camera, bad light and the dark colours in the card.

I have been working on a storage solution for my pens over the last few days and although it is up and holding pens at the moment it will not be finished for a while. It isn't brilliant, two of the shelves are on the wonk a little but its as solid as several layers of card and almost a pot of pva can make anything lol. I may post pictures at some point just for fun... anyway I woke up thinking about that and the halloween card I have been preparing... and for some odd reason the idea to make this cute little beaded spider came into my head. I used a large white bead which I coloured with the black speccie pen once I had assembled all the legs. Which I used cotton and some bluish/purple seed beads to make threading back up the centre of the beads and through the middle.

Once I had coloured the body bead I added two tiny pearl gems which came from a nail art kit for eyes and used the 0 blender speccie pen to make a tiny smile.....(do spiders smile?) anyway I should add this spider in no way resembles the monster running around the house at the moment because for sure that little devil does not smile he just runs like an athlete! this one is kinda cute...for a spider.

I used an 8 x 8 square card with some purple holographic card as a base layer and then I used this weird embossed hand made-ish feel paper which came from stash. I used a tim holtz embossing folder and coredinations white wash for the spider web and matted onto the purple holo and then green coredinations and me little spider stuck in place. The witch & background came from an old nitwit digital kit called Can I be frank (http://www.nitwitcollections.com/shop) and then was matted the same way as the spider web.  I added a sprig and some flowers (because I could) and a sentiment printed in craft artist to finish.

All in all I do like this card although the colours are too dark to my taste normally, I think without my little spider, it probably would have been chucked to the 'not right' pile.  Might try another at some point but need to get back to xmas cards for a while only a few weeks to go now so need to make quite a few more.

Anyway best go get ready for work.

Until next time, take care

Joanna Sheen Furry Friends Card

Hello again, only me, back with the second card of today.... as I thought this one did not take too long... although I have had to do other things in between. This one was for this weeks willow sketchie challenge and I also tried to make it a little bit masculine as well hence the blue and brown.

So as you can see back to my comfort zone of a nice plain 8 x 8 square. I used a gold mirri base mat and layered some of the backing paper from the furry friends cd onto it. I printed out a topper and matted it onto gold mirri as the main image. I used brown coredinations embossed in a cuttlebug folder and sanded it then matted onto blue glitter card as the secondary topper. The blue border was punched with a fancy punch and a ribbon stretched across and glued from behind. I found this cute cat charm and threaded it onto the ribbon before I stuck it down. The charm is not stuck down and is free to move along the length of the ribbon.

I layered the elements as per this weeks sketch and added the small blue thanks sentiment to finish... although this card needs an insert at some point.

This was a fairly quick card in essence and because it is not as blingy as the usual ones I think this one does feel quite masculine... love this little charm but have no idea where it came from lol.

Anyway am off to play a little more, feeling a little halloween-ish so expect a scary post at some point this week mwahahahahaha cough cough lol

Till next time, take care

Popcorn the bear side easel card

Ok blogging peeps am back again with another hand made card this post again has 3 piccies just so you get to see all of it as best as I can show with my dodgy camera which (touch wood) is hanging on in there.... thank god.

Ok so you can see this is a 8 x 8 side easel the first one I have ever made but will probably not be the last, I quite like having almost double the space to decorate as I liked this one with the stopper quite far back... it looked better than when it was more to the front... if you know what I mean. The flowers on this card were made using the heartfelt creations daisy stamp and punches which I bought from crafters companion after being inspired by the lovely Leann Chivers' lillies on her blog (http://leannchiverscraft.wordpress.com if you would like to take a look)

Initially I had a few problems, I was stamping with some distress inks and although the flowers were still very lovely I prefer something a bit more blingy. So all week I had been trying different things with these dies and stamps and making some lovely things, but then Friday at work it was a little quiet patch and I started thinking about Barbara Gray's demo's a few weeks back when she was using versamark and mica powder.... Hmmm I thought since I had bought a few pots to have a play I thought I would give it a go when I got home. The attempts I did with the versmark stamped and stuck lovely but when it came to shaping the flowers it smudged and streaked .... I was not happy because they looked awesome but then I remembered an old glue ink pad I bought a few years ago when I was trying to copy the glitter girls stamping and then glittering it. OMG it worked... how happy was I they looked great and I could manipulate them gently so I made quite a few and you may see these for a bit lol. These come as a set of five (stamps or dies) and I like to put two sizes with three of the one I use for the base and two of the smaller size on top and then a gem as you can see. Anyway anyone wanting to try these dies, it's something you need to concentrate on to get right but its not hard and they look amazing in real life.

Anyway a quick rundown of how it was made as I have gone on about the flowers too long. An 8 x 8 card with one half scored diagonally corner to corner and folded. A blank 8 x 8 square was added with glue only on the bottom part of the card. I matted and layered pink holographic then green coredinations and then some dotty embossed pink card. I used the popcorn the bear cd to print the topper and the bit of decoupage I used. I die cut some butterflies from the marianne dies and some sprigs in a green holographic. I added two circular green gems to the corner.

The base was decorated with the same pink holographic and then some green check card. I used the largest flower as a stopper and added a pink butterfly to coordinate with the green. I used craft artist to make the sentiment and matted onto green holo card and then pink and added two more flower gems.

This card took a long time to come together but I am super happy with it at the end and will be entering this into the crafters companion pink and green challenge (no 17 I think)

Might be back later with another offering hopefully it will not take me as long as this one lol

Until next time...Take care

Scottie stamp box

Hullo (waves hand) blogging peeps, something a little different today and 3 piccies so you can see all of it.

So I was flicking through the crafting mags at the papershop and suddenly came across the quick cards magazine and the free scottie stamps by Adam Prescott well there was a deep intake of breath and then an awwww Pippin stamp hurrah sound came from my mouth (rather louder than I expected) and everyone in the aisle turned round to stare. Well I picked up the magazine rather quickly and made my exit sharpish looking like a right wally I can tell you. What can I say my fur baby is a scottie cross and has the look of a scottie with the power of a jack russell (not the best combination I have to admit when he drags me round the park) but I had to get them and couldn't wait to get going with them.

Colouring them in was a bit of a worry because black is black and no matter what I did it just looked like a black blob, so I switched to the grey shades in the spectrum noirs and was a lot happier with the results. As you can see not an 8 x 8 card today but a rather cute gift box which will be filled with something doggy nearer xmas and put under the tree.... now I just have to find a nice tatty westie cross stamp for the other dog so she doesn't feel left out!

Anyway quick details are that I used the hougie board to make the gift box. I matted and layered gold mirri then the xmas embossed coredinations on the base and then gold mirri and a paper that came from the humphrey xmas cd on the top.

I used some two pieces of 7 cm wide red coredinations and scored every cm mark on the hougie
board once that was done I used a martha stewart holly punch on the edge, I folded the mountain and valley folds and glued the two pieces together to make a circle. I then used a hot glue gun, pushed the folds into a rosette shape and glued them to a circle of card along with some holly sprigs from a memory box die. I used spellbinders to cut my topper and used the next size to cut some more coredinations and then embossed it before mounting onto the rosette.

Found a ribbon I liked from stash and arranged it around the box and then glued the rosette in place.

Love this little box, can't wait to put it under the tree really must have to get up super early more often and have a good play.

Until next time...take care

Nitwit bear Card

Ok so the second post, hurrah the camera behaved itself, and so here it is, I had to finish this a little today which is why there was a gap between postings. The border for this was inspired by the C&C spellbinder edgeabilities dies demo.... I think with Jo Channon who may also have mentioned flowers with tissue paper around the same time.

Another 8 x 8 square with a printed paper from the nitwit grin and bear it downloadable kit, matted onto gold and then onto a chocolate (mmmmm chocolate) coredination which was matted onto gold mirri on the base of the card. I then used the same chocolate (mmm chocolate) coredinations and edged it with two of the spellbinders edgeabilities dies and then took an offcut of maroon/pink coredination card and used the same edgeability die to cut both edges. Using one of the ribbons that came free (yes I said free, don't hear that much these days do you?) with an order from craftobsessions courtesy of David and Brenda (thanks guys) I Kriss-krossed them over the maroon/pink piece I had just cut and layered onto one side.

Using my serif craft artist I took the topper onto a page and placed it on the brown gingham background and added a little shadow. I then copied the size of the bear and pasted it onto the page so I could decoupage him a little and added a few leaves (also in the kit) and printed the lot out on one page and then decoupaged my little bear. I used a spellbinder to cut the topper shape and matted onto gold again.

Using two small circle dies, one was a spellbinder and one was nellie snellie lily die from Joanna Sheen I cut some of both sizes from a small wad of cerise tissue paper. I then punched a hole in the middle of each and secured with a brad. I then roughly bunched each layer one by one to the middle and once all layers were scrunched released and puffed them a bit to form the flower which was glued onto the card with some of the leaves I had printed out earlier. To finish I added a small sentiment on the wonk and a little glitter to the rose and wrapping paper on the bears present.

A nice little card although I think if the maroon/pink part had been a little pinker it would have lifted the colours better, but all in all am very happy with this one. I have this super obsession with making flowers at the moment... love the tissue paper flowers they look so pretty I have a whole cricut cartridge with flower shapes on I really need to have a play with them and see how they can be used together.

I also made a pretty bead fairy today from a kit by darice, I glued the wings on a bit of a wonk but really enjoyed making it. Might have to see if I can get similar beads and make some more.

Anyway until next time take care (and pray my camera holds out until payday lol)

Humphrey flowers Birthday Card

Hello Blogging peeps, sorry to be so long between posts, I have been making cards, but since my printer went kaput it seems my digital camera which I use to take piccies and post here has been missing it and is playing up big time.
I tried buying a new cable for it as the computer kept saying it didn't recognise the usb connection but it was still not loading properly.

Having fully charged it for two days (just to be sure lol) it loaded my pics first time so I will hopefully post again in a bit the second card I have been working on in the week.

The first is this happy birthday one which I am sending to crafters companion for their birthday, they have a bit of a competition going to win a guest designer spot so I thought why not.... Anyway enough with the gabbing more about the card.

Another 8 x 8 square (you know how much I luv em) and gold mirri matted underneath a a yellow glitter silk coredination and then a pink coredination with a spellbinder edgability border matted underneath a yellow gingham card which has a matching border with a detail added to give the lovely petal shapes. ( I love the way you can line the edges up with the edgeabilities... my new favourite thing!)

I cut a large scalloped circle with an spellbinders die and matted and layered a gold mirri circle and then the humphrey decoupage. I followed an online tutorial at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wq13kni7eBA (I am hoping it gives the link ok) to make the lovely flower and added a flower gem to it.

I die cut two sprigs and stuck them to the card then added my two 'flowers' to finish I added some pink gems in the border, some card candi in the corners and a matching embossed happy birthday greeting in the pink coredinations.

All in all a pretty card with the super cute elephants... which I love toooo much lol. In my next card (If I can get it to load) something different for the blog but something else I love... a card made using a nitwit design.

Anyway until then take care

Tatty teddy baby card

Ok blogging peeps its been another week, definately need to get back to making and posting here more regularly and have lots of new things to try too. I was asked to make a baby card for someone and was struggling to get it finished... this was mainly due to the printer dying on me and luckily I've been able to borrow one and don't have to find the money to buy one for now. On top of that the blooming camera I use to put piccies on the blog is threatening to die too, I am hoping its just the cable and have ordered a new one or else I will have to get a new camera this month. Anyway enough of my problems on with the card.

I decided to make an easel card as I wanted to put the baby boys' name on. I used the whitewash coredinations (which I am trying to get more of as I love it) and the cuttlebug embossing system to emboss logan into it. I used some docraft backing paper on the bottom and top and matted and layered onto silver mirri card.

With some blue coredinations I used the new edgeabilities dies to cut and emboss a lovely border and then matched the edge border on a silver mirri to matt and layer the coredinations onto. I then matted another piece of baby boy paper on top of silver again and on top of this added the topper which was a spellbinders shape with a tatty teddy image on from the docraft designer disk.

To finish I added a tissue paper flower I made and a lovely die cut sprig of blue holographic card to the front and another sprig to the base layer. I will add a small congratulations before its posted but haven't decided where that is going yet.

Anyway I have been experimenting with spellbinders and flowers and hope to bring more of these on cards soon...

Until then

Take care
